The MLB brings more action today as the Miami Marlins will clash with the Philadelphia Phillies. This will be game three of their four-game series from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA. The Marlins won the first two games of this series.
Miami Marlins Form
The Marlins are a team that has been playing poorly this season. Moreover, they are one of the worst teams in MLB this season. However, it seems that they are in commanding form in this series as they won the first two games. Moreover, their recent record stands at 4-1. But this success is mainly because of their strong pitching recently as they have allowed just 3.13 runs per game over their last eight games. They hope to keep it going in this one against a Philadelphia team that has struggled to score of late.
On the offensive side of the game, the Marlins score an average of 3.48 runs per gameb which is the 30th record in the league in scoring offence. Also being 26th in hitting at .235 and 30th in homers with 57. On the mound, they have been above average as they rank 12th in the league in ERA at 4.22, while also ranking 14th in WHIP at 1.32 and 20th in K’s with 639.
Philadelphia Phillies Form
The Phillies are not playing well lately. Moreover, they have lost their last 6 games in a row and their average scoring in those games was at 1.83 runs per game. Also, it is important to emphasize that they made efforts in order to improve their offence. However, nothing seems to work. Also, the Phillies lost the last two games against the Marlins and the red alert is one in the Philadelphia Campus. And the Phillies are currently 4.5 games out of first in the NL East and they need this game to avoid being swept by the lowly Marlins.
On the offensive side of the game, the Phillies score an average of 4.68 runs per game which is the 17th record in the league in scoring. Also, they are 2nd in hitting at .242 and 23rd in homers with 91. On the mound, they have been average as they come in ranked 15th in the league in ERA at 4.49, while also ranking 21st in WHIP at 1.38 and 19th in Ks with 642.
The Marlins have managed to pull two wins in the last two games against the Phillies. They may have the momentum on their side, but I just can’t see them winning three games in a row against the Phillies.
On the other side, Philadelphia needs to improve and needs to do it now! They simply cannot allow losing three games in a row against an average team like Miami. Therefore, I expect a win for the Marlins in this one.
