The NBA is back in action today as the Atlanta Hawks will clash with the Washington Wizards.
Atlanta comes in off a 127-88 loss at home by Memphis as a 2.5-point favourite Monday night in their last contest. And on the other side, Washington was defeated 125-104 at Portland Wednesday night as a 7.5-point underdog in their last contest.
Atlanta Hawks Form
The Hawks managed to get two wins in a row. However, they took a step back as they lost in their last game against Memphis. Therefore, the team is still in the basement of the Southeast Division, 21.5 games behind the Heat for the top spot. As for the Eastern Conference playoff picture, the team is 14th, 8.5 games behind Orlando for the final playoff spot. The Hawks are not having a good season overall, same as the last season. The only positive is that Trae Young has been showing some good performances this season.
On the offensive side of the game, the Hawks scored an average of 111.1 points per game. And that is the 17th scoring record in the league. Also, Atlanta has an average of 43 boards a night combined with 23.8 assists per contest. As for the defensive side of the game, Atlanta is 29th in the league in scoring defence as they allow opponents to score 119.2 points per game this season.
Washington Wizards Form
The Wizards suffered two defeats in a row. Also, their recent record is good enough as they have 6 losses in their 8 games. Therefore, the Wizards are third in the Southeast Division, 17.5 games behind the Heat for the lead. As for the Eastern Conference playoff picture, the Wizards are 9th in the standings, 4.5 games behind Orlando for the final playoff spot. On a positive side, they have the in-form Bradley Beal as he led the Wizards with 29 points, six rebounds and six assists in the loss against Portland.
On the offensive side of the game, the Wizards score an average of 115.9 points per game on the year. Also, they have 42 boards per contest and 25.5 assists per game. The Wizards have the worst defence as they are ranking 30th in the league in scoring defence by allowing 120.2 points per game.
The Wizards is playing their third game in four nights here while the Hawks have had three days off. And gives the Hawks an advantage heading into this game. Also, the home record of the Wizards is 14-15 so far. However, they are still not good enough this season and I expect a Wizards win in this one.
