The NBA is back in action today as the New Orleans Pelicans will clash with the Houston Rockets in the Lone Star State. The Pelicans are heading into this game after a 139-111 win at home over Memphis in their last contest Friday night. and on the other side, Houston knocked off Dallas 128-121 at home on Friday night in their previous game.
New Orleans Pelicans Form
The Pelicans are heading into this game after a solid win over the Grizzlies. Also, that was their 3rd win in a row and now the Pelicans have the winning momentum on their side. However, the Pelicans are still on the basement of the Southwest Division, with 10.5 games behind the Rockets for the top spot. As for the Western Conference playoff picture, New Orleans stands 12th in the standings, four games behind the Grizzlies for the final playoff spot.
On the offensive side of the game, the Pelicans score an average of 115.2 points per game on the season. Also, they have 46 boards a night combined with 25.8 dimes a night. Additionally, the Pelicans are 28th in the league in scoring defence as they allow 117.1 points per game so far this year.
Houston Rockets Form
The Rockets are one of the better teams in the NBA this season. Moreover, they have managed to beat the Mavericks at home. And now, Houston is at the top of the Southwest Division with a one-game advantage over Dallas. And for the Western Conference playoff picture, the team is fifth. They are 6.5 games behind the Lakers for the top spot. Also, their talisman James Harden led Houston with 35 points, 16 rebounds, six assists and four steals in the win.
On the offensive side of the game, the Rockets score an average of 118.7 points per game on the season. Also, Houston has an average of 46.5 boards a night combined with 21.5 dimes per contest. Additionally, the Rockets concede an average of 114.7 points per game on the yea which is the 24th defensive record. James Harden is the main men as he leads the team with 35.6 points plus 7.2 assists a night on the season.
The Pelicans are improving lately and their potential can be seen. On the other side, the Rockets are a team that can beat any side in the league. I expect a very tight game between two teams that have shown great performances lately. Houston is playing with a very small lineup and it’s going to be interesting to see how they will fare against Zion and the Pelicans. But I still expect that a Houston win in this game.
