The NHL is back in action today as the Toronto Maple Leafs will clash with the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Maple Leafs are heading into this game after an overtime home win over the Sabres. And on the other side, the Flyers scored an overtime win at the Canadiens with a score f 4-3.
Toronto Maple Leafs Form
The Maple Leafs galvanized their form since they sacked Mike Babcock. Moreover, their recent record is now at 4-1 in his last 5 games which included a hard-worked 2-1 overtime win against Buffalo.
Also, a positive sign this season is the great form of Auston Matthews as the 22-year is having a productive season, netting 16 goals along with 15 assists. He also made two assists in the first game against the Flyers this season.
On the offensive side of the game, the Maple Leafs score an average of 3.3 goals, good for 10th in the NHL. As for the defensive side of the game, they are allowing an average of 3.2 goals, placing them 22nd overall.
Philadelphia Flyers Form
The Flyers are playing very well at the moment. Moreover, they have managed to get their 5th win in a row. And their last game against the Canadiens in overtime with a score of 4-3. Also, they have the in-form Travis Konecny as he recorded six points in his last seven games overall. The 22-year old centre scored three goals this month. However, his assists are on a constant rise. Additionally, he is holding a team-leading 25 points on the year. Furthermore, he scored one against the Leafs in their last game this season.
On the offensive side of the game, the Flyers score an average of 3 goals per game which is the 15th scoring record in the league.
As for the defensive side of the game, the Flyers concede an average of 2.7 goals per game. Therefore, this record is enough for the 6th spot in the league in scoring defence.
The Maple Leafs are on fire at the moment. And that coaching change was a good decision after all as their form has galvanized since. On the other side, the Flyers are a good team. However, they struggled in their last game. Therefore, I think that the Maple Leafs will have the edge in this game. They in better form and their confidence is on a high at the moment. Therefore, I take the Leafs to win this one.
